Technically, the basic table layout can be done in valid XHTML, right?
And the formatting of the tables can be done using CSS. I tried to do a
footer with only css and divs and couldn't do it either. :) I think we
need to be reasonable in terms of implementing these standards. I mean,
we don't need to throw out tables in order to use XHTML and CSS. It
might be possible to just use one simple table for the columns, which
would not get in the way of good accessibility, as far as I know.
