Eaccelerator works really well at reducing load on servers running dadaIMC
Hey everyone,
My name is Daniel, and I volunteer with the Pittsburgh IMC tech
collective. We run a machine that hosts several dadaIMC installs, and
we recently installed eaccelerator, an open-source PHP opcode cache.
The result was the load going down tremendously on the machine, and the
speed at which dadaIMC pages were served going up significantly.
A graph of the load average over time. You can guess when eaccelerator
was turned on just by looking:

For more on eaccelerator:

I imagine you'd get similar results with other opcode caches (e.g. APC).
The install took not much mroe than 5 minutes of time and was painless.
It requires some extra disk space (for our server, which hosts 5 dada
installs, it's currently at 960 megabytes of cache files) but disk is cheap.
